We get advice that encourages focusing on visualizing a satisfying future instead of dwelling on potential worries that may never materialize. That isn't enough and won't last. This Psalm teaches us to learn to dwell, gaze, and seek God, and realize that He is near.

However, in modern Western culture, especially in the United States, the prevailing belief is quite different. Today, many believe that people misbehave due to a lack of self-esteem.
This issue is deeply ingrained in us. It sounds like this: "instead of holding people accountable for making moral judgments, we should focus on building them up and helping them feel better about themselves." Progressives prefer not to condemn behaviors, while conservatives tend to judge people based on their behaviors. What do we do with self-esteem?
