When Submission Isn’t Christian

Colossians 3:18-19 - This text has been used to harm, abuse, and demean women. I define Christian submission as a humble, loyal, loving deference and cooperation, with the ideal being mutual submission. Any demeaning or servile submission to an unkind, selfish man is not aligned with Paul's intentions. That is not what it means to be 'fitting in the Lord' or an expression of Christian marriage. In other words, women and men are encouraged to seek and be in mutually respectful and mutually submissive relationships.
